We are so grateful to have Lux Perry share their story with us this week. Their vulnerability is something to truly admire and learn from.
Lux had their first experience with debilitating period pain when they were hospitalized for it at 9 years old. For the next 15 years, they were passed from physician to physician, trying to find answers and relief. They spent a decade on birth control and other medications to combat the side effects. None of it worked, shaping their adolescence by their experience with period pain and the shame that came with it. After unraveling the shame they had built up in their body over the years, they finally began their deep dive into research about chronic pain, while improving and healing their sexual wellness. They found relief for the first time in their life. It was a surprise that pleasure and embodiment brought them more relief than medication ever did.
Eventually they joined a sports recovery company and learned, for the first time, that period cramps are muscle cramps. This led to the question, what if people took the science of muscle recovery and applied it to period pain?
Converging their experiences and teaming up with their co-founders who also suffer from chronic pain, together they launched somedays in 2021. Now, Somedays offers the most comprehensive period pain relief line in North America. Their team looks forward to helping people find real relief, advocating for their stories, and transforming their relationship to pain – through the power of pleasure.
Lux’s words strike a chord in all women, and they have positively impacted a community with their business. This is not an episode you want to miss!!
